assistant professor position beginning August 2011. Area of expertise:
MATHEMATICS EDUCATION. The department, consisting of 21 faculty
members and about 260 undergraduate majors, offers B.A., B.S. and
B.S.Ed degrees in mathematics with options in applied mathematics,
statistics, and actuarial science, as well as an M.Ed. in mathematics
education. Duties include annual 24-hour teaching load, including
mathematics courses for pre-service elementary and secondary teachers
and a variety of undergraduate mathematics service courses, scholarly
activity, student advisement, curriculum development in mathematics
education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and committee
work. Teaching load will likely include supervision of secondary
mathematics student teachers. Salary and benefits are competitive.
Required: Doctorate
(or completion by time of reappointment to the second year) in mathematics
education or in mathematics with aspecialization in mathematics
education, including broad training in mathematics with at least
24 hours of graduate level courses in pure or applied mathematics.
Evidence of strong commitment to: excellence in teaching; continued
scholarly activity; working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Assistant Professorships available effective Autumn Quarter 2011.
These term positions are renewable annually for up to a total of
three years. The emphasis of Zassenhaus Assistant Professorships
is teaching and research, while Ross Assistant Professorships focus
on instruction. While teaching loads are subject to change, the
current teaching load for a Zassenhaus Assistant Professor in the
first year is 2-1-1 (two courses in the autumn quarter and one course
each in winter and spring quarters). In the second and third years,

of Richmond, a highly selective, private, liberal arts undergraduate

position in statistics - Williams College
The Williams
College Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications
for one tenure-track position in statistics, beginning fall 2011,
at the rank of assistant professor (in an exceptional case, a more
advanced appointment may be considered). We are seeking a highly
qualified candidate who has demonstrated excellence in teaching
and research, and who will have a Ph.D. by the time of appointment.
This candidate will become the fourth tenure-track statistician
in the department, joining a vibrant and active statistics group.
Williams College is a private, residential, highly selective liberal
arts college with an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 2,000
students. The teaching load is two courses per 12-week semester
