Lecturer with Potential Security of Employment positions in Mathematics

Applications are invited for a Lecturer with Potential Security of Employment position (LPSOE). Appointments will be effective July 1, 2010, or later. An excellent record of teaching and outreach activities and the Ph.D. degree are required. The LPSOE is a full-time faculty position designed for individuals who wish to focus their careers on teaching, professional and educational activities, and University and public service. These individuals are not evaluated on their research. LPSOEs are members of the University of California Academic Senate and have all the usual benefits of Senate membership, such as eligibility for UCI’s attractive faculty housing programs, medical and retirement benefits. Within eight years (or less), LPSOEs are evaluated for promotion to Lecturer with Security of Employment (LSOE), which has the permanence of a tenured position.

Specific duties include the development and implementation of new courses and curricula at the undergraduate level and leadership roles in undergraduate activities and advising, in community outreach activities and in improving instructional resources. It is expected that the Lecturer PSOE will be involved in the submission of grants, attend relevant professional meetings, review programs, submit journal articles, and serve as chair in symposia at professional meetings.

The City University of New York - College of Staten Island

The College of Staten Island (CSI) is one of 11 senior colleges of The City University of New York and the only public college on Staten Island. CSI offers 36 academic programs and 15 masters level graduate degree programs. In addition, CSI faculty participate in 31 of the 34 CUNY doctoral programs offered through the Graduate Center in Manhattan by mentoring more than 180 students. Chair of the Mathematics Department - University of Massachusetts Boston The Department of Mathematics at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for the position of chairperson of the department. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Mathematics and an outstanding record of achievement in research that would lead to an appointment at the full professor level with tenure, subject to approval by the Board of Trustees of the University. RTG Summer School on Inverse Problems & Partial Differential Equations - June 28-July 16, 2010 University of Washington, Seattle The Research Training Group in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Washington will host a summer school for advanced undergraduates and beginning graduate students on Inverse Problems & Partial Differential Equations. Students will attend lectures in the morning and problem sessions in small groups with mentors in the afternoon. On-campus accommodation and meals will be provided, plus a travel allowance of up to $500.
