Biographies and Profiles of Women in Mathematics
- MAA Celebrates Women's History Month - In celebration of Women's History Month 2010, the MAA posted photographs and brief bios of notable female mathematicians from its Women of Mathematics poster.
- Profiles of Women in Mathematics: The Emmy Noether Lectures - This commemorative booklet presents profiles of the women who have presented AWM Noether Lectures since the inception of the lecture series in 1980.
- Careers That Count: Opportunities in the Mathematical Sciences - This Profile was created by the AWM with support from the Exxon Education Foundation to encourage individuals to look at the mathematical sciences as a possible career choice and includes profiles of 15 mathematicians, all women!
- Biographies of Women Mathematicians - This award-winning web site hosts a collection of articles (and pictures) about famous women mathematicians, both past and present. The essays are written by students as part of Larry Riddle's on-going project at the Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, Georgia.
- Black Women in the Mathematical Sciences - This website contains profiles including Euphemia Lofton Haynes, Evelyn Boyd Granville and Marjorie Lee Browne. In the 1940's, they were the first African American women to get PhDs in mathematics.
- Career Profiles Archives from the AMS-SIAM Nonacademic Careers Bulletin Board - Although this site is not specifically devoted to women, there are such a large number of profiles of women that it is certainly worth including here.
- Strengthening Underrepresented Minority Mathematics Achievement (SUMMA) Biographies - Many excellent biographies of both women and men from underrepresented groups in mathematics.
- In Her Own Words: Six Mathematicians Comment on Their Lives and Careers, Notices Special Issue on Women in Mathematics, 38(7), Sept 1991 - In short personal sketches, six prominent women researchers discuss how being a woman in mathematics affected their lives and careers.
- Maria Gaetana Agnesi - A site devoted to the life and work of the first woman to publish surviving work in mathematics.
Biographies and Profiles of Women in Science
- WITI Women in Science & Technology Profiles - Profiles of different woman each day throughout the month of June, as part of Women in Science and Technology Month.
- Women of NASA - This resource was developed to encourage more young women to pursue careers in math, science, and technology. Throughout history, women have made valuable contributions to these fields.
- Women Nobel Prize Laureates - In 1903, only two years after the Nobel Foundation was established, a Nobel Prize was awarded to a woman, Marie Curie, for the first time. Women have been winning Nobel Prizes ever since.
- 4000 Years of Women in Science - This site lists over 125 names from our scientific and technical past. They are all women! This site grew out of the public talks given by Dr. Sethanne Howard, currently with NASA. The information includes biographies, photographs, and references.
